Blogmas Day 4 - The Great Twilight Debate

So everyone knows the opinions surrounding Twilight and I thought that I would throw in my opinions for you guys.

Now, personally, I love Twilight, its one of my favorite series.  I feel like a lot of the hate that Twilight gets is from Harry Potter fans who say that it is horrible and Harry Potter is the best thing to ever exist.  But can we just separate Harry Potter from Twilight for a minute. Because they are absolutely nothing like each other so how is it fair to compare them to each other.  Yes the movies were terrible but the movies didn't have the same feel as the books so just give it a chance and if you don't like it that's fine but don't judge it until you've read it okay? Okay.  Now I'm going to stop rambling but seriously take this into consideration and leave your opinion inn the comments.  Thanks for reading!

Blogmas Day 3 - Books I Need To Reread

There are many books I want to read again and I am going to tell you them. Yay! Joy!

First I want to reread the entire Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series because Snick is slowly working her way through them and she'll be talking about something that happened and I don't remember it so yeah. There's that.

Next, I want to reread Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door because they are so happy and sweet and Christmas should make you happy and I feel like it fits the mood.

And last, I want to reread the Gallagher Girls series and the Heist Society series because I love them and I want to read them again.

Thanks for reading!

Blogmas Day three

On the third day of blogmas my true love gave to me, a Legend fanfiction. So this is a Day and June Fanfic. This is placed after Legend  so if you have not read it read it.

Me and June sit in the back of the train car wrapped up in a blanket that we found. June's head is resting on my shoulder. I can feel her breathing. I woke up in the middle of the night thanks to my nightmares. I'm glad I didn't wake June up. A little bit of moonlight shines bright through the crack in the doors. I catches her dark hair and she looks gorgeous. My leg is bandaged up tight and her shoulder has scabbed over. I still am in shock that she gave up her high class life for a dirty street boy like me. I was just drifting off when she jolts awake with wide eyes and sweat streaming down her face. She looks around are realizes that she is in the train car.  Then she sees me. She falls into my arms and I hold her tightly. She starts to cry a little so I sing that Lincoln song. I have never been that good at singing but it does manage to calm her down. She barriers her face in my shirt. "It's OK were all right." I tell her. We sit here for a while. I start to get pain in my leg. She notices it and holds my head. Once that's gone, I let her sit on my good leg and whisper in her ear. "You know I love you. I always will." She smiles. "I know you do Day. I love you back." Then she falls asleep in my arms.

What do you think? I think it turned out pretty good. I just love Jane and Day and the end of Champion crushed me. I need to do a book review on that. Happy twelve days of Blogmas.

Character Interview-June

Hey Grace here this is a character interview with our favorite prodigy, June Iparis. We will ask a series of questions and have June answer them.

S:What is your favorite color?
J: Gold because it reminds me of my Day.
S:How do feel about Metias being gay?
J:............ The only problem is that what would our parents think.........
S: How do you think Day is in Bed?
J: ...... You people ask weird questions. Well, AMAZING! He is just so great.
S: Are you and Day dating again?
J: Yea we are dating again. He is starting to remember me a little. He remembered that one night.......
S: Enough about Day. Omg I can't believe I just said that... Do your bangs ever get in the way?
J: Yea sometimes. I was running once and my bangs got in my eyes and I ran right into a pole.
S: So if you ever get married do you plan to have kids?
J: Maybe, It would be nice. It would be a lot of work though.
S: Ok that's it for today. Bye June! Tell Day I said hi.
J: Ok bye.

*Later that night*

"Hey sweet heart, how was the interview?" "Those people were weird. They asked how you where in bed." ..........."What did you say?" "That you were amazing." Day smirks and wraps his arms around her. "Good to know."

Blogmas Day 2 - 2014 Reading Challenge

We will be doing this post together so I, Amber, will be in this font and color.

So I Grace will be in this color.

So this is what we call, 2014 Reading Challenge.

We will be challenging each other to read five books that we have each picked out without the other knowing what it is.  So let us begin.

The first book I challenge Grace to read is Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.

I wanted to read that. My English teacher showed me a book preview about it and it looked really good. It is on my never ending book list I have from Amber.

My first book for Amber who I know will not like the idea but I want her to read it because it was good, is The Journey Back, which is the sequel the Red Kayak.

So you are right for once in your life.  I don't want to read this and now I'm going to have to reread The Red Kayak because I remember absolutely nothing from it.  Thanks a lot Grace.

The next book is going to challenge is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
because the movie comes out soon and I want her to see it but she has to read
the book first.

I saw the trailer and the movie looks good. I guess it looks good. It is also on my never ending list of books to read. Like I said it is never ending.

My second book for my friend is Life as we Knew it. By Susan Beth Pfeffer.   I have not read it yet and since she is a faster reader than me I want her to read it first. (By the way I am right a lot more than you think OK. I have a 98 in science class)

Awesome, that's something that I had wanted to read.  It's even in my school
library but I never pick it up.

My third book for Grace will be The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan because it's
amazing and the Kane Chronicles is one of her favorite series but she hasn't
read any Percy Jackson.

Again it is on my never ending book list. My little brother is reading though so I will ask him what he thinks. I saw the movie and people say it was nothing like the book. So yea....

My third book for Amber I know she will like is City of Heavenly Fire. I know she
will like this because we fan girl about it. So once it comes out i know she will
read it. So I am being a nice person.

You are being a nice person. Quite a difference from usual. And the Percy Jackson movies didn't even follow the same plot as the books.

My next book will be The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey because it's amazing and if I
don't make Grace read it now then she won't ever do it so, you know.

You guessed it! This is also on my never ending book list! I know this girl in my
class who read it and it's like her favorite book because I've seen her read it like three times so I will try to read it I guess.

My fourth book for her to read is Three Times Lucky by Sheila turn age. My English teacher last year read it and it looked kinda good. Same thing with Life as we knew it. She reads faster then me.

Okay. I don't know anything about this but it sounds like its middle grade and yeah.  I guess we'll see
.

My last but definitely not least, and that sounded incredibly cheesy so we're going to forget that I said that, but it is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Grace just told me that she doesn't really want to read this and I was like omg you have to it's amazing and she was like idk so it has earned a place on this list. You're welcome.  And yes, you will thank me later.

Omg... Really. Your making me read that... We'll no offense to Stephenie Meyer. I guess I will my step mom is obsessed with. She has a giant cardboard cut out of Edward in her spare room.... Yea....

My last book is Forever Until Never by look oh ME!! Once I finish it also please edit it. I hope to get it finished by 2014. It was my nanowrimo book that I never even got close to finishing. I only got like a little above 11000 words... LOL

Haha..ok Grace whatever you say.

And to wrap it up, if we both finish all of the books for our challenge then we will buy each other a book of our choice.  Thanks for reading!

Love,
Amber
and Grace

Hey sorry everyone. I was doing nanowrimo so I didn't get to post anything plus I had this BIG paper I had to do to get my grade up. Any way HAPPY TWELVE DAYS OF BLOGMAS.  I am listing all the books I want for Christmas. I asked for a gift card so I can get them myself because I'm really picky about books.

Books I Want For Christmas

1. The rest of the Mortal Instruments
2. Infernal Devices
3. The Darkest Minds
4. Anna and the French Kiss
5. The faults in our Stars
6. The Book Thief
7. Hush Hush

So yea. We'll post day two later on in the night. So later!

       -Grace

Blogmas Day 1 - Books I Want To Buy Before 2014

There are many many books that I love and would like to buy, but with Christmas fast approaching I don't want to buy any books before then but I will be getting amazon gift cards and I will be spending those before the first of January, you know, after Christmas sales and all that swag.  I went through my amazon wish list and found the books I'll be buying very very soon.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and the Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin - I just finished the Unbecoming and I can't wait to read the Evolution so I'll definitely be picking those up.

Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier - I read Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue earlier this year and I haven't picked up Emerald Green yet because there are a million holds on it at my library, and I wanted to buy them anyway. And they also have gorgeous covers so that's always a plus.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - I loved Fangirl so I want to pick it up.  Not really anything else to say about that.

Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Mass - I loved these books so I want to own it.  Unfortunately, I will have to get Throne of Glass in paperback because they changed the covers and the first is very ugly so you know.

Poison Study, Magic Study, and Fire Study - I love these books so much. They are one of my all time favorite series and I really want to own them.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you tomorrow!
Love,
Amber

December TBR + Apologies + An Announcement- Mac

Hello everyone!  I am so sorry that it has been so long since we have posted anything, but both Grace and I were incredibly busy during November because of NaNoWriMo (I won.  Grace did not.)  But anyway, we did not have the time to post, so hopefully we'll be able to get back on track this month.  I also have an announcement.  I will be doing the 12 days of blogmas for the twelve days leading up to Christmas, starting on the 14th.  I also think that Snick is participating though I am not completely sure.

Anyway, on to the December TBR.  Now, if you are familiar with what I typically read in a month, then you will know that this is much less than I will probably read, especially with winter break coming up.  However these are some of the books that I most definitely plan to read.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer- Michelle Hodkin
Looking For Alaska- John Green
Incarnate- Jodi Meadows
Pretty Little Liars- Sara Shepard
Poison Study- Maria V. Snyder
Magic Study- Maria V. Snyder
Fire Study- Maria V. Snyder
Fracture- Megan Miranda

I am really excited to read all of these books, so if you have read any of them, let me know what you think.  I don't know if I will be able to post again before blogmas starts because I need to study for midterms (blech!) but I shall see you on the 14th.

Love you guys,
Amber

Death of the Mad Hatter by Sarah J. Pepper

Death of the Mad HatterThe Jack prophesied: If the king loses his head, then the Queen with a Bleeding Heart would rule the Red Court until Time ceased to move forward. When a second carried on for infinity, every creature in Wonderland would tip their Hat to the misfit girl with a Boy’s name (or was it a boy with a Girl’s name?) who’d end the Reign of Terror. However, it all hinged on the One-Eyed Hare being able to convince an uninspirable Heir that the impossible was indeed possible—like stopping time—and that Love was worth a Beheading.

Heads would Roll…
Hearts would Break…
In the end, would it matter who Reigned?

Welcome to this review of Death of the Mad Hatter by Sarah J. Pepper.  This is an ARC that I received, and the book comes out November 29 so mark your calendars because this is definitely something that you want to read.
This books is a modern retelling of Alice in Wonderland, but it'll take everything you thought you knew about both Alice and Wonderland and flip it upside down.  It's dark and mysterious and full of love and betrayal.  It's full of riddles and codes and people trying to manipulate you to get what they want.  There's a prophecy that makes absolutely no sense and people willing to do anything to make sure that it doesn't come true.
Death of the Mad Hatter is told in alternates POV's between Alice Mae and Ryley.  Ryley is a seemingly average almost 18-year-old boy who's whole life is changed when a new girl, Alice Mae, shows up at school.  Alice Mae is very... peculiar.  She knows things about Ryley and his family that he has never told anyone but when confronted for an explanation, she only spouts the ramblings of an insane person.  It's this baffling behavior that pulls Ryley into the dangerous world of Wonderland.  This book is enticing and different from anything I've ever read.  I gave this book four stars and it is definitely something you should check out.  I'm prophesizeing that there'll be many more Sarah J. Pepper reads in my future.

Love, Amber

Since I found this book so good and she is such an awesome person, I want to share all of Sarah's information with you.

Real-life romance isn't only filled with hugs, kisses, unicorns, and rainbows. True-love can be more thoroughly described in times of darkness and tribulation. It’s in those harsh moments where you see what a person is truly capable of – both the good and bad. Sometimes prince-charming isn't always on time, and the glass slipper is a little snug. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Movie Reaction

Hello!  I just got home from seeing the City of Bones Movie!  And I'm going to review it!

This movie stars Lily Collins as Clary Fray, Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland, Robert Sheehan as Simon Lewis, Kevin Zegers as Alec Lightwood, and Jemima West as Isabelle Lightwood.

Casting:
Lily Collins did an excellent job portraying Clary.  Her and Jamie had really good chemistry and she was just a very good Clary overall.
Jamie Campbell Bower looks exactly how I pictured Jace.  He's that perfect mix of being strong and vulnerable at the same time.  But he wasn't as witty and sarcastic as Jace was in the book, which is one of my favorite parts of Jace's character.  He was sarcastic, but his delivery was kind of weird.
Robert Sheehan did a surprisingly good job with Simon.  He was awkward and sweet and that perfect guy best friend.
Kevin Zegers did such a fantastic job as Alec.  I feel like Alec doesn't get enough love.  He is such an awesome character.  At least, I think so.  He was so amazing and he's just the perfect representation of Alec.
Jemima West was quite good as Isabelle.  I love her whip.  That was so awesome.  But she's shorter than Lily Collins which kinda bugged me.  And that dress in the beginning.  It was gorgeous.

And I would like to comment on Magnus.  He isn't Magnus.  That wasn't at all what I pictured him to be like. Just so you know.

Scenes:

They changed Hotel Dumort!  That angers me.  That's one of the best scenes in the book!  Sure, it was still epic and kick-butt, but Simon wasn't a rat!  And they didn't have the whole thing with Raul (I think that was his name).
The greenhouse scene.  Wow.  The set looked fantastic.  Clary and Jace go up this little spiral staircase thing to an itty bitty platform and they're looking out across the greenhouse and then the clock strikes midnight and all the flowers start blooming and it was so gorgeous.  And then Clary and Jace start edging closer together and I'm all pumped up, like this is it they're gonna kiss now.  But no.  Clary had to see this weird little lizard thing, and she's like, looks like we've got company, and Jace goes down the staircase.  Then Clary does this weird trip fall thing and Jace catches her and pushes her up against the railing and starts making out with her and I'm like, "No!"  This is supposed to be tender and gentle and sweet and uncertain.  This looks like they're trying to eat each others faces off!  Gak.
Then there's that scene with Jace and Clary at the portal.  And so in the movie the portal is made of water.  Jace is telling Clary about the portal and he's like, let me show you something.  He takes a ball of water and puts it next to her head then reaches into the portal and BAM! His hand comes out of the ball of water and starts stroking Clary's face.  Am I the only one who finds this incredibly creepy?
The ending has got to be the biggest thing they changed.  Am I wrong or did the whole ending take place in Valentine's house in the book?  I think I'm right.  I mean, that's not a big deal, just something I noticed.  Something that did anger me were Valentine's stupid braids!  Whoever thought those were a good idea is obviously blind.  It kinda bothered me that they added on stuff that didn't happen (or I don't remember happening) to the end.  It's not a super big deal, just something that made me go, 'Was that really the best decision? Really?'

This was a fantastic movie by itself.  But as someone who has read and is obsessed with the book,  its pretty good, but not great.  However, this book definitely caters towards people who have read the book.  I went to see it with someone who hadn't read the book and I had to explain a lot of stuff to her.  So, if you haven't read the book, prepare to be confused.  But I understood pretty much everything so, I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Prodigy by Marie Lu

Prodigy (Legend, #2)
June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.

It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

In this highly-anticipated sequel, Lu delivers a breathtaking thriller with high stakes and cinematic action.

My Review;
My first reaction upon finishing this book: "I'm going to strangle Marie Lu!"  If you've read the book, you know what I mean. While reading this book I alternated between wanting to hug the author and murder her. This book was even better than Legend. I had high expectations after reading the absolutely fantastical Legend and this book exceeded them by a mile. I'm not going to say any more because I can't give anything away. But definitely a 5 (gazillion) star book.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Marie Lu literally had me uncontrollably laughing within the first 10 pages. Does this sound familiar to anyone?: "Aw, come on sweetheart, I thought I was doing a pretty good job. I've got my arm around the prettiest escort on the block, how could I not be lusting over you? Don't I look like I'm lusting? This is me, lusting!" Best. Quote. EVER! And then came the "bathroom scene". Oh, Marie Lu, again, you've perfectly captured the awkwardness of teen romance while entwining it with kick-butt situations. If I ever meet you I'm going to bow to your feet.
Now, I'm going to skip right to the end. The part you've all been waiting for. Day. Is. Dying. My 1st reaction: What? No, no, no, no. There is no way I read that right. *rereads last few paragraphs* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! DAY IS DYING! MY LIFE IS OVER! I WILL NEVER FEEL HAPPINESS AGAIN! And then, he goes to June. And I'm expecting him to tell her and then she would be like, oh, it's okay, I'm so high up I can get you something to heal you. But no. Marie Lu enjoys crushing my dreams. Because instead of telling her he just tells her to accept the position as Anden's "right hand man"(don't remember the actual term for it) and then breaks up with her. *face palm* God Day. Why?
So, that's pretty much all I have to say. Amazing, amazing, amazing book. Read it.

Legend

Intro

Hey everyone Snick here giving you books all the time. This review is about my on the top starter of my favorite book trilogy, Legend. It and Divergent is tied. I really can't decide. I liked to here what you guys think.

Book Talk

OK, I am so in love with this book. It is on the top of my list. My English teacher said her son was reading it and loved it. So I bought it at Barnes and Noble that night at my little brothers school (My old school) book night. Mac was with me and said she had to read the book for BOB. She wasn't looking forward to it though. I read it told her she had to read it. BOOM! She loved it. We are so fan-girls.
Now the book talk. The first words I read were "My mother thinks I'm dead". Not was what I am expecting. Never judge a book by it's cover though or in this case beginning. War is raging hope is dying. The only hope left is the boy who walks in the light. Day. Fighting against the republic, sorta, is there most wanted criminal having no idea what he looks like he is very hard to catch. June is the republic little prodigy. There best solder at the age of only fifteen. Day kills her brother. Is it murder? Did he kill him. Seeking revenge the little prodigy goes under cover to catch Day. Day who is hurt and running is not aware of how is life is going to change. Meeting a girl on the street. Saving her life. Falling in love. Day and June find the secrets that will change this war for ever. Do they really want to see the republic collapse though, or do they want to see it change? Find out in one of my top favorites. Legend.

 Characters

So Day has to be my favorite. He is smart, sweet, strong, brave, cute, and I'm not sure if I would consider him a bad boy. The Boy Who Walks in the light. Not to mention funny too. June I like to. She is brave, daring, sweet, strong and, dependable. The Girl Who Shattered The Shinning Glass. The republics little prodigy. I hate Tess. Period. Just had to say that.

My Thoughts

Ok so I have already told my you I love this book but I will say it again. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!!! Sorry I just love it.  If you read it I hope you fall in love with it too. OK so here is my news. I have recently been reading Divergent I have fallen I love with four. That is my problem. Mac claimed four already. So Yea, but when Champion comes out she is going to want Day so I will keep him. I also have lots of good quotes for this book. I take some of my favorite lines and quote them with this app on my IPad. It is so cool.

Closing

That is it for now. I love this book. ****Gets hit by a random chair**** Owww! I will say it once and I will say it again. Hope you plan to read this awesome book by Marie Lu.
